MEASURE HACKS

Overview

At Bulletproof Labs it is all about the data. Measurement is integrated into everything we do. Performance is much more than a number on a scale or your “personal records” on traditional muscle exercises. We deploy advanced quantification technologies across many aspects of mind and body performance including blood analysis for biomarkers (hormones, vitamin levels, heavy metals, telomeres), gut biome analysis, breath analyzers, saliva and urine analytics as well as non invasive technologies including clinical grade HRV analysis, clinical grade body composition and cellular health analysis, proprietary cognitive function tests, and more. As a Member, on your first visit your personal Biohacker Technician will recommend a set of baseline measurements based on your personal biohacking goals. As your journey continues, we will continue to measure progress and performance against population benchmarks and your own personal goals to ensure that the upgrade interventions are meeting your objectives.

Key Indicators Measured

3D body analysis

All external body measurements and estimate of body composition based on population models

Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR)

Minimum energy required to sustain vital functions while at rest.

Body Composition analysis

Intercellular water, Extracellular water, Total Body water, Dry Lean Mass, Body Fat Mass, Visceral Fat Area, Lean Body Mass, Body Weight, Skeletal Muscle Mass, Body Segment analysis (arms, legs, trunk, etc.)

Cellular health and integrity

Measured by Phase Angle that is an indicator of cellular integrity and intracellular water.  Research in humans has shown that the relationship between phase angle and cellular health is increasing and nearly linear (1,2,3). A low phase angle is consistent with an inability of cells to store energy and an indication of breakdown in the selective permeability of cellular membranes. A high phase angle is consistent with large quantities of intact cell membranes and body cell mass. Research on Phase Angle here (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3646229/)

Comprehensive Metabolic Panel

Including but not limited to the blood levels of albumin, blood urea nitrogen, calcium, carbon dioxide, chloride, creatinine, glucose, potassium, sodium, total bilirubin and protein, and liver enzymes (alanine aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase, and aspartate aminotransferase).

Gut MicroBiome

Measured using advanced Metatranscriptome sequencing (technology developed by NASA). (research https://www.viome.com/our-science/)  Research has shown the link between gut microbiome health and chronic disease, sleep, energy levels, mood, focus, weight, skin health and more.

Heart Rate Variability (HRV)

HRV is an indicator of autonomic nervous system activity.  Measured with clinical grade devices.  A range of other outcomes/conditions may also be associated with modified (usually lower) HRV, including congestive heart failure, diabetic neuropathy, depression, post-cardiac transplant, susceptibility to SIDS and poor survival in premature babies.  HRV is also relevant in measuring emotional state, magnitude and nature of daily worry and overall stress levels.

Hormone Profiles

Including but not limited to Prolactin, DHEA Sulphate, Testosterone, Sex Hormone Binding Globulin, Estrone, Estriol, Progesterone, and more.

Inflammation

Blood tests for Elevated High Sensitivity C-Reactive Protein (HS-CRP), Homocysteine, Ferritin, HDL, or Monocytes.

Ketosis

Every time you exhale, your body expels acetone – a molecule found in the breath that indicates your personal state of fat burn at any given moment. LEVL measures and harnesses this data and provides a result similar to that of a clinical laboratory with ease and simplicity for clients.

Mood, emotions

Proprietary Emotional Balance survey before and after treatments.

Sleep quality

Measured by a Likert style self assessment tool. The CDC has identified insufficient sleep as a major public health problem (https://www.cdc.gov/features/dssleep/).

Upgraded Self Assessments

Bulletproof Labs is developing upgraded self assessment tools across many areas of human performance. Based on clinical research , these upgraded self assessment tools have better data collection, correlation to other biomarkers, and are used by your personal Biohacker Technician in conjunction with your custom intervention protocol to correlate progress toward your personal performance goals. Areas for self assessment include but are not limited to Mood/Emotions, Sleep Quality, Resilience, Grit, Myers-Briggs type personality, Strength and Weakness, Core Values, Mental Health, and more.

Clinical Research

From time to time Bulletproof Labs will partner with a university researcher or an industry partner to conduct clinical research.  See your personal Biohacker Technician about current open opportunities.
